Mrs. McNeil's Math - tEAM
6M
Ø
Welcome to Mrs. McNeil’s Math Class. This is my 3rd year
here at ICMS. I hold a NYS teaching certification to teach
Mathematics in grades K – 12.
Ø
Learning is a lifelong process. I continue to learn from my students
and strive to realize individual strengths and areas which need to
be developed. The lessons I teach encourage repeated practice of new
skills until the skills become almost automatic. Homework will then
focus on those skills learned and practiced at least 5 times in
class before students are asked to work independently.
Ø
New York State Education Department revised the standards for
Mathematics in 2005. "Students will understand the concepts
of and become proficient with the skills of mathematics;
communicate and reason mathematically; and become
problem solvers by using appropriate tools and strategies
through the integrated studies of number sense and operations,
algebra, geometry, measurement, and probability." (from the NYSED
Math Standard, 2005)
Ø
The practice for the NYS assessment will be given in December and
then the official assessment is given in March 2007.
Ø
I live in Poestenkill with my husband and 2 children. Kayle and
Allan attend Algonquin Middle School in Averill Park. In my free
time I enjoy cooking, sewing, biking, fishing and watching Soccer
games. My nephew, Conrad, is a goalkeeper for Penn State
University, in College Park, PA. I also have two beautiful
grandchildren, Trista and Alexander.
Ø
You can find me in the Van Tassel Wing in Room 105. Please see me if
you need additional help. I may be available after school.
